Website
The Challenge
MC Derin was launching a new venture, Coffee & Cocktails with MC, and needed a website to promote this brand-new non-profit. We wanted something fun, something classy, something that embodied her theme, coffee and cocktails, a website that people could go back to again and again.
The Solution
To keep visitors coming back, we included dynamic content. Videos, blog posts, and networking events are continually being added to the website. While her videos can be accessed via her YouTube channel and event info can be found on Eventbrite, fans need only check in to her website on a weekly basis to watch her latest video interview, read the current blog post, and discover her next networking event. One central location for everything you need to know.
Special Features
Video
The videos on the site all reside within YouTube and feed in from there. You never want to embed video directly into a website, if it can be avoided. It takes up a huge amount of storage space and causes slow page loading. Uploading videos to YouTube lets YouTube absorb the storage (which it’s built to do) and has the added benefit of allowing viewers to watch all of her videos in one place and being discoverable to new viewers.
E-Commerce
The e-commerce utilizes WooCommerce to display the shop. Payment processing is passed through to PayPal, thus avoiding credit card liabilities. Inventory is provided by multiple manufacturers who specialize in one-off production, thus reducing the need to stock inventory. The shop is a terrific add-on, to allow the non-profit to produce an income, to support itself and its mission.
Custom Form
Going beyond the basic contact form, the form in this case is utilized as an application. Questions and response types are customized to elicit specific answers to questions to determine interest and qualifications.
Email Capture
Website visitors interested in keeping up with MC’s adventures can sign up for her email list. New additions are fed directly into Mailchimp, where new subscribers get an automatic welcome email.
