The Challenge

The website was dated and due for a facelift. The current website did not have the flexibility to display more or less content, depending on the time of year. Some periods have a lot of promotions to share, others are a bit quieter. The website needed to be fluid enough to have more or less content without looking either crowded or empty. In addition, the shopping platform, Delivery Biz Pro, which does allow for a full website, with additional, static pages, it does not allow for a blog, In addition, the static pages are html pages; they can be customized and styled, but not without an awful lot of custom coding.

The Solution

Two separate websites. The main website, southmountaincreamery.com, is built on the WordPress platform. The theme allows for content blocks to be added and removed, as needed, and can be arranged and sized so that everything always “fits” regardless of how much content must be shared at any given time. WordPress was created to be a blogging platform, and thus, the blog aspect was simple. For the store, (store.southmountaincreamery.com),the DBP team was terrific with back-end CSS and customization, working from submitted design comps and assets, to match up the look and feel of the store site to the WordPress site.

Special Functionality

Custom Navigation

The shop link in the WordPress site goes to a new site, entirely. On the store site, DBP was able to add secondary navigation, with links that take visitors back to the WordPress, informational site. Although they are two separate sites, with the navigation on both, the two sites work together seamlessly.

Email Capture

A recurring sidebar provides the opportunity for website visitors to subscribe to weekly emails. Email captures are fed into Mailchimp and new subscribers are easily added to the master list.
