The Challenge
Kelley was ready to turn her side hustle into a full-fledged business! And she knew, one of the key components of a “real” business was having a professional website. Kelley took the opportunity to re-brand herself, and change her business name from “Rising Star Karaoke” to “Rising Star Entertainment” to allow for a broader range of services. We wanted something with a fun, hip vibe, that incorporated all of Kelley’s services.
The Solution
A dark-themed website with bright text sets the tone for the website. Fun colors, minimal and basic navigation, and plenty of photos make it pretty clear that Kelley brings the party!
Special Features
Fun Animations
The active page has tiny sound vibes; page loads displays an animated sound wave; find for slow, casual wave graphic in the footer; animated text slide-in on the DJ page, and fun floating bubbles — it’s the little details in this site that contribute to its overall “music-inspired” vibe.
Calendar of Events
A full month’s worth of events can be found on the Events page, making it easy to see at a glance where Kelley will be for the month. Clicking on any calendar event brings up a page for that specific date/time; as her karaoke gigs are recurring, these are recurring events, auto-populated both on the calendar and as individual events, so that her events are always current. Futhermore, each event page has a venue link: each establishment where Kelley hosts karaoke has its own page, promoting karaoke fun and specials, bringing exposure to that location, which may be a new to the website visitor, and encouraging website visitors to check out that location and take advantage of specials. It’s a nice give-back that Kelley can offer her establishments: one more shout-out on the web.
Video
If ever there was a need for video on a website, it’s this one. You can try to explain karaoke to a person, but the concept comes across so much clearer in video. Karaoke videos can be found on the ‘karaoke’ page, with a link to her YouTube channel to watch even more videos. (Caution: her YouTube channgel is a rabbit hole! Watching her participants sing karaoke can entertain you all afternoon!) Kelley herself—who is definitely one to put her money where her mouth is—is featured in an amazing, original parody-karaoke performance of Adele’s “Hello” that she wrote specifically for The Hideaway.
Custom Form
Because the point of the website is to sell a service, once the website visitor has poked around and decided that having Kelley DJ her wedding is a GREAT! idea, the “Let’s Chat” button brings up a form asking all of the pertinent details so that when Kelley does connect with the potential client, both parties can skip the nitty-gritty and get right to the music selection!
Email Capture
Website visitors can supply their email — and note, it’s only email — to add themselves to her subscriber list. Emails are fed directly into Mailchimp, so that new subscribers are always included in the latest mailings.
